Ode to Tarai was crafted with a unique niche in mind, yet its beautiful, light scent makes it lovable to anyone. I created this candle as a tribute to my hometown— the vast, vibrant plains of Western Nepal. It’s an ode to the beauty and diversity of Tarai, a song sung through scents.

Growing up in Tarai, I was enchanted by the aromas of nature and the everyday olfactory wonders around me: the scent of my hajurama’s tea brewing in the morning, the sweet fragrance of sal leaves she would stitch into tapari for puja or festivals (the scent of those leaves was divine!). I cherish memories of my childhood, stealing bitter lemons, green mangoes, and unripe pomegranates with my cousins, running through lush green paddy fields, and the golden rows of wheat fields, the midday heat and scorching sun. The lake in my village, surrounded by giant Gulmohars and adorned with pink lotus flowers, has been there since my earliest memory and remains a cherished piece of my heart. Many people from Tarai can relate to a few of these, I believe.

I wanted to capture these in one of my candles to relive those moments. Ode to Tarai is gorgeously fresh and fruity, with a subtle warmth and delicate sweetness. It reflects the sunny, serene beauty of Tarai without feeling overwhelming.
