Candle Care Guide

To get the most out of your precious candles, follow these essential guidelines:

  1. Never leave a lit candle unattended. This can be a serious fire hazard, potentially leading to damage or injury. Prioritize safety at all times.
  2. Place candles on a flat, stable surface, away from windows, drafts, and flammable objects. This helps prevent accidents and ensures an even burn. Sculpted and decorative candles require heat resistant surface as they do not have containers.
  3. Trim the wick to 1/4 inch before each use. For container candles, burn them for at least 1 hour per inch of the container’s diameter. For example, a container with a 3-inch diameter should be burned for about 3 hours to allow the wax to melt to the edges, preventing tunnelling. Avoid burning any candle for more than 4 hours at a time, as this may cause the wick to mushroom, produce smoke, or even overheat the container.
  4. Coconut Soy Specifics: With coconut soy candles, it’s common for the melt pool not to reach the edge during initial burns (or sometimes not until much later), especially if the container diameter is 3-inch or more. Don’t worry, this is normal! The wax along the edges will gradually melt over time as the candle burns.
  5. For sculpted or decorative candles, limit burn time to 1-2 hours, or 3 hours for large pillars. These candles are mainly for display, but if you choose to light them, keep burn times short.
  6. Extinguish flames with a snuffer or dip the wick into melted wax to prevent smoke from being released. Avoid blowing out candles, as this leads to smoke production.
  7. Keep candles out of reach of children and pets, and store them in a cool, dark place, away from sunlight and dust, which can fade scents and discolor the wax (if dyed).
  8. Avoid refrigerating your candles. This can make the wax brittle and prone to cracking. Similarly, do not expose them to direct sunlight or extreme heat, which may weaken the wax structure.

Following these tips will ensure your candles burn beautifully and safely, while extending their life and quality.
